Foul-weather Friend 壞天氣朋友

Meaning： A foul-weather friend only seeks you out if they have a problem， need a shoulder to cry on， a ride to town or someone to watch their dog， but otherwise they act as if they dont even know you.

英語中有句俗話：A friend in need is a friend indeed。在漢語里就是“患難見真知”的意思。不過，我們身邊的朋友不可能都是這樣的。foul-weather friend（字面意思為“壞天氣朋友”）就是只在有困難的時候才會想起你的那種朋友。

壞天氣朋友只會在他們遇到麻煩、需要找個肩膀流淚、搭車進城或找人幫忙照看他們家寵物狗的時候才會想起你，否則，他們基本就跟不認識你一樣。壞天氣朋友從來不會叫你跟其他朋友一起外出、看演出或者出去閑逛?？墒?，一旦遇上麻煩，他們就知道你是可以依靠的老朋友，會是他們唯一的聽眾，他們的表現讓人感覺你是他唯一的朋友。不過，你可別指望他們能以同樣的方式對你。當你遇到困難的時候，他們通常會告誡你，不要把他們拉下水。

Fair-weather Friend 酒肉朋友

Meaning： A friend who is present in times of success but absent in times of trouble. A friend who is only a friend when circumstances are pleasant or profitable. At the first sign of trouble， these capricious[反復無常的]， disloyal friends will drop their relationship with you.

短語中fair一詞的含義是“公平的，美好的”，fair-weather表示“風和日麗”的意思，比喻某人正當走運之時。人們交朋友都渴望對方是一個能在困難中相助的人，不過世間總有一些只可與他人同富貴而不能共患難的假朋友。這里的fair-weather的真正含義是借用美好的天氣來比喻“良辰美景”，說明這種朋友是一個只能在對方順利時分享成果的偽君子。一旦風云突變，他就會棄朋友而去。這種朋友就是fair-weather friend（酒肉朋友）。酒肉朋友是指那種在順利的日子里跟你稱兄道弟，但是一旦你陷入困境卻六親不認的人。換句話說就是只可同富貴卻不能共患難的人。

Chat Gravity 聊天重力

Meaning： Chat gravity refers to the degree of familiarity with another person， which， if you happen to encounter them on the street， will determine if you merely greet them in passing or stop to talk.

不管你的人緣有多好，朋友圈子有多廣，身邊的朋友總是有親疏之分的。有的可能只是泛泛之交，有的可以無話不談。這就決定了你們在見面的時候會如何交流，是客套寒暄一下就完呢，還是聊起來就沒完。這里面起決定性作用的東西就叫做chat gravity。聊天重力指你跟另一個人的熟悉程度決定了你們在街頭偶遇的時候是只打個招呼就過去，還是停下來聊一會兒。

Meaning： E-cquaintance refers to a person known to another through online communication only （as via e-mail， instant messenger or social networking website）. The term is a blend of electronic and acquaintance， just like e-mail and e-commerce， where acquaintance means someone who you have met and known slightly， but not well.

在網絡不普及的時候，人們會嘗試交筆友，通過書信與一個未曾謀面的人建立友誼?，F在，只要在社交網站上活躍一些，你就可以交到不少網絡上的朋友。網絡熟人指僅通過電子郵件、即時通訊工具或社交網站等網絡環境互相認識的熟人。這個說法是electronic（電子的）和acquaintance（熟人）兩個詞的合成形式，與電子郵件（e-mail）和電子商務（e-commerce）等詞的構成方式一樣，acquaintance一詞指互相認識但不是太了解的人。

I have quite a few e-cquaintances on Weibo， but I have never met them in real life.
