The 9th Pan-Beibu Gulf Economic Cooperation Forum （PBGECF） was due to kick off on May 26， 2016. Over the years， with the concerted efforts of all the parties concerned， fruitful achievements had been made，which was of vital significance to the enrichment of bilateral cooperation， the co-construction of a ASEAN-China Community of Shared Destiny， as well as the creation of PBGECF’s role as a new growth pole in the ASEAN-China region.

To ensure the smooth operation of each PBGECF，not only the demands of the time had been satisfi ed，but also all the stakeholders in the region had been attaching importance to all the related issues. In addition， it is worth mentioning that all the staff concerned had also been diligently dedicated to the preparatory work before each PBGECF.

On the day before 2016 PBGECF， “Just 2 days before PBGECF” was displayed on a countdown board placed at the door of Liyuan Villa’s Building 11. On seeing this reminder， people would probably feel nervous and excited. According to an on-site staff， they might work overtime that night because of the work requirements. From her view， she felt a great sense of accomplishment when referring to the forums over the past years.

It was learned that 2016 PBGECF had been highly valued by the government of Guangxi and all walks of life in the local community while all the important cities and government sectors involving the forum had been keeping effective communication and coordination with each other. By that time， marked progress had been made in term of the invitation to VIP guests， the preparations for conference agenda， information releasing，reception， and so on.

The invitation to guests at home and abroad，for instance， had been carried out meticulously by the staff of Beibu Gulf Economic Zone & Cooperation with ASEAN Office of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region， China. It was said that over ten ministerial-level foreign officials from Malaysia， Myanmar， Cambodia， Vietnam and so on had been confi rmed to be in attendance；Chinese officials from NDRC， Ministry of Commerce， Development Research Center of the State Council， State Oceanic Administration， China Development Bank， as well as the governments of Hunan， Guangdong， Hainan and Guizhou would also lead their delegations to be present；moreover， representatives from various port cities in the region， including China’s Lianyungang Port， Malaysia’s Kuantan Port， Thailand’s Laem Chabang Port and Myanmar’s Rangoon Port， would attend China-ASEAN Port Cities Cooperation Network Forum.

The Deputy Secretary-General of the People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and the Under-Secretary-General of PBGECF Organizing Committee Wei Ran said the 9th PBGECF themed with “Collectively Building the Belt and Road via PBGECF” is aimed at pragmatically improving the building of both China-Indochina Peninsula Economic Corridor and China-ASEAN Port Cities Cooperation Network，the connectivity of land & sea routes of ASEAN and China， the establishment of Pan-Beibu Gulf maritime cooperation， as well as the cooperation in international production capacity.
