There is和There are的煩惱

同學們，你們都認識There is和There are哥倆兒吧？最近他們可是煩惱多多。為什么呢？原來，他們都可以表示“在某地有某人或某物”，又都喜歡站在句首，因此總有一些同學把他們給搞錯了。今天啊，他們想要告訴大家：他倆確實都來自There be家族，但個性卻不盡相同。到底有什么區別呢？請聽聽他們的自我介紹吧。

There is

我平時喜歡和單數名詞及不可數名詞交朋友。瞧：

There is a big box on the table.

There is some milk in the glass.

There are

我只愿意與復數名詞為伴?？矗?/p>

There are lots of books in the library.

如果要變成一般疑問句，只要把咱們的be動詞（is或are）請到最前面就可以了。如：

-Is there a music room in your school？

-Yes，there is.

-Are there any pictues on the wall？

-No，there arent.

當表示“在某地沒有某人或某物”時，咱們的朋友not就會主動來幫忙。謙虛的not總是挨在俺哥倆兒的后面。瞧：

There is not （isnt） a football on the playground.

There are not （arent） any chairs in the classroom.

我們There be家族里一般實行的是“就近原則”，即：使用There is還是There are，由離他最近的那個名詞來決定。如：

There is a pen and two books on the desk.

There are two books and a pen on the desk.
