【詞語精講】

1. meat n.

meat是不可數名詞，意為“肉”。例如：

There is some meat in the basket. 籃子里有一些肉。

【友情提示】 表示“肉”的不可數名詞還有：mutton羊肉;beef 牛肉;pork 豬肉;chicken雞肉等。例如：

I want to have beef noodles for lunch. 午飯我想吃牛肉面。

2. potato n.

potato意為“土豆”，其復數形式為potatoes。例如：

Hed like to buy some potatoes in the supermarket. 他想要去超市里買一些土豆。

【友情提示】以-o結尾的名詞變復數形式的規則：

（1） 多數加-es構成復數形式，特別是一些常用詞匯。例如：

tomatoes， heroes （英雄），mosquitoes （蚊子）。

（2） 下面幾類以-o結尾的名詞只加-s：

●以“元音+o”或“oo”結尾的詞。例如：

videos， radios， bamboos， kangaroos。

●關于音樂方面的詞或一些外來詞。例如：

pianos， solos （獨唱）。

●一些縮寫詞和專有名詞。例如：

kilos， photos， Eskimos （愛斯基摩人）， Filipinos （菲律賓人）。

3. special n. & adj.

special 用作名詞時，意為“特價;特色菜”，常用于通過廣告宣傳的“大減價”。例如：

We have some great specials. 我們有一些很好的特色菜。

special用作形容詞時，意為“特殊的;特別的;專門的”。其副詞形式為specially，意為“特別地”。例如：

It is a special day today and I buy a gift specially for you. 今天是一個特殊的日子，我特意給你買了一件禮物。

4. yet adv.

yet意為“還;仍然”，多用于否定句和疑問句，談論尚未發生但可能發生的事。例如：

—Have they been to visit you yet？? 他們來看過你嗎？

— Just once. 就一次。

The worst of the storm is yet to come. 最猛烈的暴風雨就要來了。

5. lucky adj.

lucky意為“幸運的;吉祥的”，它的名詞形式是luck，副詞形式是luckily。例如：

He is a lucky dog. 他是個幸運的家伙。

Tom is lucky enough to get the last chance to study abroad. 湯姆足夠幸運得到最后一個留學的機會。

Luckily， were here to change all that. 幸運的是，我們現在就來改變這一切。

6. bowl n.

bowl意為“碗”，a bowl of... 意為“一碗……”，表示復數概念時，把bowl變為復數形式即可。例如：

Mary only eats a bowl of porridge for breakfast. 瑪麗早餐只喝一碗粥。

There are two bowls of rice on the table. 桌子上有兩碗米飯。

【友情提示】冠詞 / 數詞 + 容器名稱 + of + 名詞，此結構常用來表示不可數名詞的量。例如：

a bottle of water一瓶水;a glass of milk一杯牛奶;a cup of tea一杯茶;a piece of paper一張紙。

7. fish n. & v.

（1） fish作名詞，意為“魚”時，是可數名詞，單復數同形用來指同類的多條魚，其后加-es指不同種類的魚;fish意為“魚肉”時，是不可數名詞。例如：

I have three fish at home. 我家里有三條魚。

There are many fishes in the sea. 大海里有各種各樣的魚。

I had fish for dinner. 晚餐我吃的魚肉。

（2） fish作動詞時，意為“釣魚”，常用于短語go fishing，意為“去釣魚”。例如：

We often go fishing on weekends. 我們經常在周末去釣魚。

8. answer n. & v.

answer表示“回答”，既可用作名詞又可用作動詞。

（1） answer作名詞時，表示問題的答案，應與介詞to連用，即the answer to... 表示“……的答案”。例如：

I dont know the answer to the question. 我不知道問題的答案。

（2） answer作動詞時，表示回答（問題）。其反義詞為ask。例如：

The question is simple enough to answer. 這個問題很簡單，容易回答。

【友情提示】 answer 除表示“回答”外，還可表示接聽電話或對門鈴等聲響作出反應等（常與telephone， door， bell， doorbell 等連用）。例如：

Who answered the telephone？ 誰接的電話？

A little girl answered the door. 一個小女孩應聲去開門。

Nobody answered my call for help. 沒有人理會我的呼救。

9. different adj.

different意為“不同的”，其反義詞為same，其副詞形式為differently。例如：

They are in the same school， but in different grades. 他們在同一所學校，但是在不同的年級。

10. candy n.

candy意為“糖果”，指我們平常所吃零食。例如：

His pockets are all full of candy. 他的口袋全裝滿了糖果。

【拓展】 sugar指“白糖;蔗糖”; sweet則指“甜品;甜點”，另外它還可以用作形容詞，意為“甜美的”。sweet指糖果時可以和candy 互換使用。

【難句在線】

—What kind of noodles would you like？ 您要哪種面條？

—Id like the beef noodles. 我想要牛肉面。

（1） What kind of... would you like？是用來詢問想要什么類型。kind表示“種類”，what kind of 哪種;a kind of 一種;all kinds of 各種各樣的。例如：

What kind of hamburgers do you want？ 你想要哪種漢堡？

（2） beef 是名詞作定語，修飾名詞noodles。通常作定語的名詞不用復數形式，也不隨主體名詞的單復數的變化而變化。例如：

There is an apple tree in front of the house. 房子前有棵蘋果樹?！?There are apple trees in front of the house. 房子前有些蘋果樹。

但如果是man或woman作定語時，其單復數的變化應和主體名詞單復數的變化一致。試體會：

We still need a woman worker. 我們仍然需要一名女工?！鶺e still need some women workers. 我們仍然需要一些女工。
