This paper analyzes the relationship between artificial intelligence (AI) and rule-based language model (RLM),statistical language model (SLM), neural language model (NLM), pre-trained language model(PLM) and large language model (LLM) in the order of academic development of NLP.The paper finally points out that building a model that can understand the world is the future direction of artificial intelligence.

Reflection on and Review of the Explanation Mechanism of Metaphorical Meaning:A Tribute to the 100th Anniversary of Modern Semanticsby SUN Yi, p.37

In ongoing discussions on metaphorical mechanisms,scholars often excessively focus on the cognitive mechanisms and conceptual functions of metaphors,while neglecting the cornerstone and foundation of their composition.Fundamentally,metaphor is also a semantic phenomenon, and the interpretation and analysis of its meaning is the prerequisite and basis for conducting in-depth and systematic research on metaphor.This article,on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the publication of Ogden and Richards’masterpiece The Meaning of Meaning, follows the development vein of semantics for a century, and takes the exploration of metaphor in semantics as a clue.The research achievements of semantics scholars on metaphor are generally divided into classical semantics theory, semantic interaction theory,formal semantics theory, and cognitive semantics theory, and are combed and sorted out in sequence.While clarifying the abundant and fruitful achievements of metaphor, it provides assistance for the follow-up sustainable healthy development of metaphor pursuits.

Training Language Professionals for International Organizations in the Context of New Liberal Arts Development: Objectives and Pathwaysby ZHAN Cheng & HUANG Jing, p.62

The development of new liberal arts features the integration of different disciplines as well as the enhancement of traditional liberal arts with innovative training paradigms.Such characteristics well meet the requirement of cultivating interdisciplinary language professionals for international organizations.With the core competency for language professionals in international organizations sorted out, this article develops a competence model and a framework of training objectives for language professionals for international organizations in the context of new liberal arts.By drawing examples from translation and interpreting courses, the article proposes four ways to facilitate the cultivation of language professionals for international organizations through innovative training paradigms in existing liberal arts courses:(1)research-based learning on global issues for fostering global visions required by new liberal arts;(2)situational teaching to deliver on-site experience in a mock setting to build on the technological emphasis of new liberal arts;(3) case-based teaching aimed to simulate professional work scenarios to cater to new liberal arts of the times; and(4) traditional Chinese culture embedded to enhance cultural confidence for instilling Chinese values which lie at the heart of new liberal arts.

A Study of the Group of Translators’Behaviors in Translating Mao Zedong’s Liupanshan in the Perspective of Translator Behavior Criticismby LI Zhengshuan & LV Xin, p.68

In the late 1950s, Mao Zedong’s poems were translated into many languages and widely disseminated around the world, and different groups of translators emerged.However, translators, as the main body of translation, have not been given enough attention.This paper, guided by the theory of Translator Behavior Criticism, focuses on Mao Zedong’s Liupanshan, regards the translators who use this poem as a text as a group, and analyzes comprehensively and objectively the commonality and individuality of the behaviors of the different translators in the same group of translators, from the two levels of extratranslation and intratranslation, so as to enhance the value of the theory and further guide and explain the translation practice.
